Hugh, Thanks for your reply to my quere on Joe. It is very possible that this is the individual that I'm looking for.I had checked the 1900 census for Texas and found no one fitting that discription.I have the obit for his mother and when she died in 1902 there is no indication that he was still alive.I did notice on the census data that you sent when I checked the page it lists him as being ill.Everything but the age matches.Although he grew up on a farm, I not sure where he might have become a machinist, although not all of us follow in our fathers footsteps. There is no listing in the 1860 census for George and Anna C. although they lived on what was the Kohler Farm which Geo. purchased in 1853.They lived there until they died. They are listed in 1870, Mt. Pleasant Twp., Adams Co., Pa. Roll 1289, Book 1, Page 306. Both Geo and Anna C. were born in Pa., USA.If you come up with any other info, please adivse. Do you know what was the major newspaper in Houston, Tex. area between 1880-1900?
