Hugh, I know that my grandfather John F. was born in Blair, Nebraska in 1881. Exactly where he went from there until he married my grandmother (Alida Julia Bimeler of Zoar, Ohio) in Indianapolis in 1920 is virtually unknown to me. I have numerous photos of him (JFH) around Texas (Austin, Galveston, San Marcos) in 1910, the same year that JFH Jr. was born.I have no birth certificate, as yet, so I have no idea of place of birth or his mother’s name. I’m sure that I can retrieve that from the state bureau of vital statistics.
Regarding JFH’s siblings… I do know that the family of Franklin Harriman & Della Lewis (parents) moved to Blair, Nebraska in / around 1874. So far, I have found a Family Record on the internet showing the following children; Louis B. Harriman (this is most likely the Lucia B. mentioned below) John F. Harriman Hazel Dell Harriman
Also, confirming much of the above is an excerpt from a letter from one of my father’s cousins, in which he is describing my great-grandfather’s biography has made a copy of and is sending to him (my father). He states the following; “As per our discussion, I am enclosing a typed copy of our grandfather, Franklin Harriman’s Life History which he wrote to your father (John Franklin Harriman), my mother (Hazel Dell), Aunt Maud and Aunt Lucia while working in the Gold Rush in Alaska in Nov. of 1897.” I have photos of Lucia B. Harriman and Hazel Harriman Raup with their families.
I know that Maud was born 1869, John F. was born 1881 and Hazel was born 1883… Lucia as yet eludes me.
I’m sure that with a little work and some luck I will arrive at the truth, wherever and whatever it is.
