Linn, IA? That’s interesting. All the information I’ve seen to date has shown that they were married in Cedar, Rapids. In an excerpt from his autobiography he says… “Stayed at Cedar Rapids. In there I went to clerking for J.L. Peak in the Empire House. Worked for him a little over a year. Then I got married on Nov. 7, 1867, this being the 30th anniversary of my birthday.”
Do you have a document showing a record of the marriage in Linn? That’s quite an interesting twist on the story. Something akin to Paul Harvey.
