A copy of the death certificate for Arthur Sr. should show the names of his parents, if the informant had that knowledge. On the other hand, he filled out his own application for his Soc Sec card, and it will show names of his parents, his residence at time of application and other data.
The only Arthur Bondurant born in any state between 1870 and 1880 I can find is the following:

This is where the missing 1890 census hurts your search.By 1900 John is still in Henry Co, KY, but with second wife and more young children. One daughter from the 1880 census is still at home, Sarah 24.John owns farm free and clear, you might check records see what happens to that land when he dies.Who shows up as heirs???
I find it interesting on the 1900 census Arthur is a convict guard in the AL State Prison in Elmore Co, AL.Maybe he struck out from KY on his own.
If you're looking for TX descendants in this family, you might look for obituaries for the two men.Clayton Library in Houston has great genealogical collection and probablyhas back issues of the local newspaper.Or, try the RAOGK (Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness) site, lots of volunteers listed for Harris Co, TX.
