Searching for information on my Metcalf family. I am trying to verify the parents of my ggrandfather Edward F. (b. 10/1870 in VA).This Metcalf family did use different spelling of the last name (Metcalfe, Medcalf, Medkaff, and Midkiff) andmoved a great deal but ended up in Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas. I have located an Edward F. Midkiff born in Pittslyvania, VA, around the same time frame, a son of Robert V. And Mary (Price) Midkiff. However, I cannot verify the connection.
My Edward F. married Margaret (last name unknown- b. 11/1871 in AL.) in 1893.Edward and Margaret’s children were born in Jackson Co., AL. His oldest son, my grandfather, is Delbert L. Metcalf b.03/1894.Then Dewey (Male b. 5/1898), Mammie (Female, b. 1902), Zada C. (Female, b. 1904), Hubert L. (Male, b. 1906), Hattie M. (Female, b. 1909).
I do know that Dewey married Zola and has at least one daughter named Caffie [sic] b. 1924; possibly another child named Effie, DOB unknown. That Hattie and Mammie moved to Oklahoma City. In 1932 Edward died and was buried in Jackson Co., AL, that my ggrandmother, Margaret went to Oklahoma City with Hattie. To my knowledge, Margaret died and is buried in Oklahoma. Mammie was married twice. Before she moved to Oklahoma her first husband had the last name Summer [sic], that she had twin boys: Clyde and Claude. Her second husband was a Lofton, I believe. That Hubert worked at a gas and oil refinery in Mt. Pleasant, Texas in 1936. That some of his children live(d) in Texarkana.
I certainly will appreciate any information that will help or lead in verifying Edward’s father. Or any additional information about this Metcalf family that someone can share. Thank you.
