Seeking the descendents of Edmund P. Wheat, b. April, 1826, Madison Co., Ala, died ca l904-1906, Tyler County, Texas.According to many sources, Edmund P. Wheat married three or four times, one to a Norris, one to Elizabeth Ann Durham?, one to Mary Jane Durham, and one to S. Narcissus Roe in l891, Tyler County, Texas. The only child listed in any census was M. J. Wheat, age 14, ca 1856, who was listed living with E. P. Wheat and E. A. Wheat.I believe she was the dau of Mary Jane Durham. The problem with the daughter M. J. (Mary Jane) is that three Wheat brothers, E. P., James Edmund, and John, all had Mary Jane Wheats.John's Mary Jane married J. B. Durham, James E.'s, Mary Jane, married a Harvill.Any ideas upon whom Mary Jane Wheat, dau of E. P. married?
Edmund P. Wheat died intestate and no administration was made on his estate. His brothers and sisters, along with their children and grandchildren, purported to be the heirs and/or heirs-at law of E. P. Wheat and all conveyed their interest, as heirs of E. P. Wheat, in property in Tyler County,to Dr. F. V. Smith. S. N. Wheat, the last wife of E. P. Wheat, conveys her interest also to F. V. Smith; however, the dau Mary Jane Wheat, did not convey her interest and may have predeceased her father, E. P. No affidavit, no written instrument exists, to reveal how the siblings and their children inherited the land owned by E. P. Wheat. My wife's, great, great grandmother, Martha Ann Wheat George, wife of Andrew George, also conveys her interest out.E. P. Wheat had conveyed 250 acres of land to Andrew George and Martha years before his death. No other members of the Wheat family owned any property in the James Blunt or Blount Survey prior to E. P. Wheat with one exception, R. S. Wheat.Any suggestions will be appreciated.
