1900 census Hopkins Co, TX:
Canaday, J.A., h, b Mar 1860, 40, M 2 yrs, b TX, unk, unk

I would guess the Freddie and Mabel are children of Addie, note birth location for their father.

Looks like your John had a twin.I would say Martha is the mother of the 3 youngest children, but the older ones probably had a different mother.I don't have access to online census index for 1850.Also in the county are German 48, b NC and Matthew 40 b NC.
You didn't give her married name, but I am guessing this is your grandmother -- combined information from TX Dth Idx and SSDI:
Mays, Mayflower C., b 9 Oct 1898; d 20 Oct 1995 Franklin Co, TX; last residence Saltillo, Hopkins Co, TX; SS card issued in TX.
A copy of her death certificate should show the names of her parents, if the informant had the knowledge. On the other hand Winnie applied for a Soc Sec card, you can obtain a copy of the application she filled out, and it should show the names of her parents, Winnie's residence at the time of the application and other data.Note middle initial of C. is shown and often they would use a woman's maiden name for the middle initial in earlier times.
You should include the spellings of Canaday, Cannaday and Canady in your queries, just Canada may throw off some people.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
