Rev. Marion "Moses/M.J." Jackson Holifield and his family lived in Graves County in 1850.In 1865 the family moved from Kentucky to Weakley County, TN, and in 1871 to Lake County. There he organized a Methodist Church in Tiptonville and helped to establish the Tiptonville Academy.In 1878 he was elected county trustee, an office he held for four years before resigning.He was also a farmer, owning a 150 acre farm in Lake County.
