Thank you for your valuable help!It is most certainly appreciated.I, and my ten grandchildren, are the surviving unknown relatives of Willis Emile McCracken, and I am sincerely trying to find him.
In 1954 my father, mother and I went to the "Travelers Hotel" (a rooming house?)in Houston to find granddad, but were told he had died a few months before, they didn't know his relatives, and he was buried in the potter's field.
Is 503 Hathaway the address of the Travelers Hotel?
There is a question of his birthplace. It's listed elsewhere as Tennessee.Since my grandmother's mother was educated in Jackson, Tennessee, I wonder if that's the connection.I don't know where my grandparents met each other, or where my grandmother was educated. She told me she went to college.
Another interesting note: my birthday is also Aug. 30, and my father never told me, or apparently knew, that was his father's birthdate.
Thanks to all of you in cyberspace helping me unravel the family mystery!Lydia Joy McCracken Chichester email@example.com
