I have given up trying to find Pete and Kate on the 1890 US Census. They also seem to have disappeared on the 1900 Census. To my knowledge, they never lived in any other state but Texas.
I saw the 1910 TX Census where it shows the Nowaks,Pete and Kate, and lists 4 children born/living. The possible names for the children that I have run across are: Michael John, Tony Max,John S.,Mary, and Egnac(Ike?).I think that the four children indicated on the Census may be referring to the ones that were born in the USA.Michael John, born 1878 in Poland, is shown married and living in Fort Worth, in 1910.Some of the information given to the census takers, in those days, has proved to be somewhat ambiguous at best.
The 1910 TX Census taken in Fort Worth, lists my grandfather, Michael John and my grandmother, Mary Louise. It shows them with 2 children, Vesta and Lawrence.Lawrence is my grandmother’s son from her first marriage to a John Bulgiewicz, who died in 1907.I have been told that Vesta, shown in the Census, is a girl that my grandmother had living with them.Vesta is not a blood relative to the Nowaks.Thechildren that were born to Michael John Nowak and his wife, Mary, were Helen Katherine, Robert Lee, George Marion, and Floyd David.
For the record, my surname should actually be Nowak, and not Noark. This is another name change thought to be instigated by my grandmother, Mary Louise Kochanowicz (Kotch) / Bulgiewicz(Bullock) / Nowak(Noark). My Grandfather, Michael John Nowak, who died in Los Angeles, California in 1930, never changed his name.
