Oops! My bad. Having lived there, I briefly forgot Newton Co. Georgia wasn't the center of the universe... :-)
If William D. Elliott did live in Texas it was briefly.I don't believe he ever settled there, but perhaps visited family(?)Family stories tell that he drove a head of cattle from Texas to GA, but also there is this article from The Georgia Enterprise stating he had returned from texas in the late 1880's:http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/newton/newspapers/homeando2121nw.txthttp://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/newton/newspapers/homeando2121nw.txt
I also believe his son, William Smith Elliott was born in Texas. His daughter's (Ruth Lawton) 1930 Census record indicates that William Smith Elliott was born in Texas. However, I've never found any birth record to prove that.
