I'm David Williams and am researching a branch of the enormous Williams family tree that hopefully takes me to my gggg-grandfather Purviance Williams(1803 NC - 1857 TX) and beyond. I think my connection to Purviance comes through his son, ggg-grandfather, William Newton Williams(1828 TN - 1888 TX). Newt (as I think he was known) and his first wife, Mary Ann Neal had one son, gg-grandfather Patrick Stone Williams (1850 TX - 1910+ TX), before she died. He then married Martha L. Barbour and had five more kids. Both marriages were in Panola County Texas. Patrick (Paddy) Stone Williams married Lucy Ellen Butler(1853 KY - 1937 TX) in 1872(?) and had four children, including my great-grandfather, Joseph Nathan Williams, who was born in 1882 near Carrollton in Collin County Texas. Joseph went by "J.N." and "Dick". Dick doesn't make sense because it's short for Richard. He married Annie Nance(1889 TX - 1976 OK)in 1908 and had four children in Wise County Texas, including my grandfather R.B. Williams(1911 OK - 1994 OK). They moved to Hydro in about 1915, where he farmed, and then Anadarko, Caddo County, Oklahoma, where he was a shoe cobbler almost until his death in 1973.R.B. married Brownie Mae Thompson(1913 OK - 2004 OK) and raised two sons, my dad, Bobby Dale Williams and uncle, Don Ray Williams.
I would appreciate any help I can get in validating my small twig on the Williams family tree. Stay tuned for more. This is definitly a work in progress.
