Genealogy related items are needed for the up coming spring issue of the Angelina County Genealogy Newsletter. Short family sketches of a paragraph or two or more of notible individuals who were connected to Angelina County or short family histories of a few paragraphs would be helpful. Queries asking about Angelina County people that have some indication of names, places and dates and/or time frame are needed. A major feature of each newsletter has been a long list of new genealogy books acquired by the library since the last issue. Other genealogy related items of general genealogy would be welcomed. Currently and in the past the newsletters have been published twice a year and limited to 12 pages. The newsletter is available to paid society members in e-mail or mailed on paper copies. Some interest has been expressed to increasing the number of pages per issue or having more issues a year if enough material would become available. Currently it is called a newsletter, but could become more of a journal as described by the Texas Genealogical Society standards for publications. Paper copies of past newsletters are available in the Kurth Memorial Library Ora mcMullen Genealogy Room. Send short items to the society at firstname.lastname@example.org that will then be forwarded to the ACGS Newsletter editor. For contact information for the SCGS Newsletter editor contact the librarian, Cindy McMullen, at email@example.com or call 1-936-630-0563 or see previous meeting notices of the society on this message board for the physical/mailing address for the library. The next meeting of the society will be at Kurth Memorial Library in Lufkin, Texas, at 5 PM, Monday May 21, 2012. The program will be presented by ACGS member and professional genealogist, Debbie Parker Wayne, on Using the 1940 census.
