Have you checked on the Boykin Family GenForum yet?There is a book that you need to try to locate.It is "Solomon Boykin, Jr., 1745-1821 The Lost and Found Generation, His Ancestors and Descendants"by Joe Boykin, privately published by author in 1981.Joe Boykin was from Teague, Texas.Someone sent me a xeroxed copy of this book and I believe that it is your line.Perhaps your library can locate a copy for you.Also, there are a lot of the Solomon Boykin descendants in Mississippi.
I believe that John Joseph Boykin was the son of John and Mason Boykin.John Boykin died in Washington Co. AL in 1824.John Joseph Boykin was born in 1818 in Washington CO. AL and he married Henrietta Brashier on 21 Oct. 1844 in AL.The 1860 Census of Mobile Co. AL, roll 17 Pg. 13, Northern District,lists John J. Boykin, age 42, H. Boykin, wife, age 32. Children:M.A. Daughter, age 14, S.J. daughter, age 13, John age 11, a daughter age 10, R. daugher, age 8, E. daughter age 7,Easton son, age 5, Rowell son, age 1, Dennis B. age 2/12.There are other children of John and Mason Boykin and they are:Irene Boykin, b. 1800,GA, Richard Boykin, b. 1804, GA, Rachel, b. 1808, GA, Rowell Boykin, b. 1810, GA., Elizabeth Boykin, b. 1812, GA., Easton Boykin b. 1815, GA.
This is the line as I see it right now:
1)Edward Boykin died 1728, VA., wife Ann Gwaltney.
2)Edward Boykin, Jr., m. Judith Hill
3)Solomon Boykin, d. 1771, Burke Co. GA.
4)John Boykin m. a Miss. Mason
5)John Joseph Boykin
You will need to double check this information and be sure but this should give you something to start with.Again, double check the Boykin GenForum.There are probably many queries on it that will be helpful to you.Hope this will at least be a starting point for you.
