I am researching my direct ancestor Isabella Williams who was born about 1790 in Virginia and had children with Richeson Taylor.
I have several sources in a book called Strangers in Their Midst that shows Isabella Williams in the 1840 census as well as listed with personal property tax in 1827, 1828, and 1840.
In the same book it shows a deed April 8, 1854 which shows Isabella selling her 115 acres on Browns Creek along with animals, kitchen furniture and all other property for $5.00 and support during her lifetime.
I also show a daughter, Nancy B Williams who was born about 1813 in Amherst as the daughter of Isabella.
I also show her listed in a book called The Deeds of Amherst County, VA 1827-1852 which shows a record of her on Aug 27, 1830 along with the name of her son in law, James Beverly(James Frederick Beverly married her daughter Sarah Ann on Jan 6, 1829).
I have heard several researchers say Isabella was from the Monacan Tribe. I'm wondering if anyone else out there is researching this line and if they have found any documentation before 1827 in Amherst that lists Isabella Williams or Richeson Taylor.
I descended from their son, Richard Taylor who was born 1816 in Amherst and died in 1907 in Kansas. Richard's wives were Mary Ann, Jane Dempsey, and Ann Dempsey. Richard and Ann Dempsey had my 3rd great-grandmother Emily Jane Taylor.
