I am working on the McQueens who settled in the towns of Argyle and Salem before 1790. John McQueen Sr. was a miller. It appears his son, Peter, drown himself in his mill pond at Fitch's Point in Salem, when he learned his sons Alexander,John and Daniel had been accused of stealing from the Williams Mill run by Peter. Peter's three bots appear to have moved to the town of Perth in Fulton County, New York after their father's suicide.
John Sr.'s son John Jr. appears to have moved to with his wife Priscilla and their children to Salem in 1790 to help his sister-in-law (Cathrine) with the mill and her children. By 1800 John Jr. and Cathrine are both found in the census of Salem with living with their respective families in close vacinity.
I believe John Jr, had two sons, Peter and Daniel, which moved to Camillus, Onondaga County, New York by 1800. I descnd from this Peter McQueen, who married Betsy Bowman.
