Hi Sandra: Thanks for your reply and interest. Yes, I would have to agree with you, with some of the information I have acquired. There is no George Reeder age 16 b. abt 1884 in the 1900 census. However,on the 1910 Census I found:
1910 Census Danville Ward 7 Vermillon Co, IL George W. Reeder, age 57 OH Elizabeth Reeder, age 55 IL Ruby Reeder, age 9, granddaughter, b. IL, father b. IL mother b. IL Ruby's age here is 9 yrs old. I never thought to check as to when this census was taken assuming that it was taken before her 10th birthday - date being May 31, 1900.
Also in 1910 there is listed another census on George W. Reeder. It was listed as Beeder but was changed to Reeder by the Census transciber. I believe this is one of the same George W. Reeder.
1910 Census Vermillon Co IL George W. Beeder 57 Reeder b. 1853 OH Father b. OH Mother b. OH Elizabeth Beeder 55 Reeder b.1855 IL Charles Beeder55 Reeder b.1855 OH He is listed as boarder but George W. had a brother Charles that was born 1855 OH
This is the Census that Ruby (Mom) should have been listed on. However for some reason she wasn't. Perhaps to keep it a deep dark secret at the time? It makes one wonder! 1900 Census Vance Vermillon Co IL Name Age George Reeder 47 Elizabeth Reeder 44 Elizabeth Mead Elsie Reeder 16- daughter-Mother of Ruby Reeder b.5 31 1900 Herman Reeder 12- son Eve Reeder 3- grand daughter b. 1897 Daughter of Ida Reeder according to Reeder Family Tree
Ida Reeder was the daughter of George W. and Elizabeth's also.
On Jan 13 1903 Elsie Reeder married Delbert Hart. therefore in 1910 she would have been listed under Hart.
I never knew my Mom's Dad's name until I recently acquired her birth certificate and marriage license. Both state her father was George Reeder and her mother Elsie Reeder. Mom always said that she was raised by George W. and Elizabeth Mead- her grandparents. By any chance are you related to the Reeders from Vermillon Co IL? Thanks for your help. Charles R.
