Wow - volunteer researcher Carolyn LaPorte posted lots of information for you and offered to continue on with the investigation. I hope you'll stop back and acknowledge her for the hours she donated to your project.
Note discussion of possible immigrant ancestor Thomas Wilband b 1782 England who married Lydia Babcock of Cornwallis, Kings County, Nova Scotia. Lydia found in 1850 census in Albert County, New Brunswick. A family story (which the forum is checking out) tells that a Thomas Love was a doctor impressed into the British Navy. He jumped ship in Canada and changed to his mother’s maiden name of Wilband to hide his identity. One poster in the forum says the story cannot be true, and that the name Wilband must be the original surname.
More snippets from that forum:
WILBAND CHILDREN Mary Matilda Wilband married John Milburn Thomas Wilband married Jane Edgett Stephen Wilband married Mary Edgett Valentine Wilband married Nancy Jane Berryman<------------ Clarissa Wilband married Charles Jamison
Valentine Wilband born 1825 in Harvey, Albert, New Brunswick married Nancy Jane Berryman of Harvey.
Valentine Wilband’s son Charles Anthony Wilband born 1874 in Shepody, Albert, New Brunswick; Charles died 22 October 1946 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
A granddaughter of Charles Anthony Wilband’s son Robert L. Wilband joins a discussion at link below and refers to Charles’s wife as “Margaret Jane Bailey of Red Fern River area, Quebec.”
Another poster in the above forum says she is looking for “George Salathiel Wilband who married Mercedes McHenry in 1908 in Vancouver, B.C.” And a reply comes that a George S. Wilband b 1870 is the 12th child (of 14 children) of Valentine Wilband.
All of the above information comes from descendants chatting in the forum I mentioned; you apparently have lots of cousins working on this family!
