I apologize for the answer given by the other person.
The Social Security Death Index can be found at four different locations. Each has paid for the Master Death Index and updates from the Social Security Administration:
The Death Master File is a database owned by the SSA.The DMF contains the death data of those that had received Social Security Benefits...and those that never received a dime, but their descendants received the death benefit or dependant benefit. Or, they are ONLY on it because they had a SSN and their death was reported to the Social Security Administration. A person may have received benefits for decades, but not be on the list.A person's data may be wrong. There have been persons still living that were on the list. The SSA sells this DMF via the National Technical Information Service, plus updates; but, at a cost so far prohibitive to us (Approx $6,900.00 for the database on DVD or CD-Rom, a Yearly subscription by Month to CD-Rom updates is $5,520.00 and the weekly updates $10,000).
So, the sources for the SSDI:
Now, with that information given, it probably would be a BIG waste of time to look on the SSDI.Yes, you "might" find her, IF she never remarried, and lived past 1960 (most before then are not on the list).
To properly look for her, we must have her background and try to identify her date of birth.Do you have more information on her, or her parents?Do you have them located in the US Census?Did Nina have siblings? Is there anyone else in the family that you have found, that you have good data, such as date of birth, etc?
The Washington Birth Index shows
--Nina May Pattison, born 23 August 1907 in Clallam County to William Walter Pattison and Clinton Allison Gordon.
--Marion Janne Pattison, born 22 June 1909 to Water W Pattison and Christen A. Gordon.
I looked in the Social Security Death Index for ANY "Nina" born 23 August 1907 in the USA.There were two.A Nina M. Hoffman, died 27 May 1989 in Farmington, Michigan.A Nina B. Jacobson, died 22 Jan 1992, SSN issued in Colorado. There was no Nina found with this criteria in the Washington Death Index.
The 1910 Census for Port Angels, Clallam County, Washington:
William W. Patterson (spelling is correct), age 28, born in Nebraska to father born in Indiana, mother in Iowa
Clinton A. age 23, born in Georgia to both parents born in Georgia
Alice B, 8
Nina M 2
Marion, 10/12.All children born in Washington
--The spelling of the last name could be how they were using the last name, or how the census enumerator spelled it on the census. This Pattison/Patterson is a common mistake.
The 1920 Census for Port Angeles, Clallam County, WA
Walter W, age 37, born in Nebraska
Clinton, age 33, born in Georgia
Frank 9.All children born in Washington
