"Gene Clayton Lander
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, in Burlingame Baptist Church for Gene Clayton Lander, who died Jan. 29 at age 88.
Mr. Lander was born June 20, 1915, in Vancouver, where he was raised. He earned a master's degree in theology from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania. He was a missionary in Tanzania for 14 years and later a chaplain at Bess Kaiser Hospital in Portland. In 1947, he married Anna M. Hess; she died in 1999.
Survivors include his daughters, Joyce Carlson, Doris Payne, Shirley Hooge, Karen Bower, Sharon Cone and Arlyne Moi; sons, Kenneth and Wayne; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
