Local Clubwoman Claimed by Death: Well-known as an active member of many local organizations. Mrs. E.I. (Birdie) Wood, 1921 Gregory way, died yesterday afternoon at her home. She was 75. Born Aug 29,1874, in Jamestown, Mo., she lived in Bremerton for 32 years. She was a member of Reliance chapter, O.E.S., court No. 9, Order of Amaranth Aurilla Rebekah: Harmony lodge R.N. of A. Women of Moose and the ladies auxiliaries of F.O.E. and I.A. of M. Surviving are her husband, Eugene of the family home; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Stevens and Mrs. Corine Dowden, both of Bremerton; three sons, Glen E. McElvain of Seattle, Earl S. McElvain of Portland, Oregon and J. Neil McElvain of Salem,Ore; two sisters, Mrs. Olivia DeBow of Portland and Mrs. Frank Fletcher of Wenatchee, Wa, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Miller-Reynold chapel. Bremerton chapter, Order of Amaranth, will officiate. Cremation will follow.
