I need someone to tell me where my great aunt is buried in Colville. Also, if there was an obituary, death or funeral notice published in the local newspaper, what was published about her? The following is what I have on Mary:
Name: Mary Laura (CAMPBELL) HANEY TOWN Died: 14 July 1975 in Walla Walla, Washington Born: 27 January 1897 in Kansas Daughter of: Henry Green CAMPBELL and Hattie May (BAILEY) CAMPBELL First husband: Robert HANEY (who died 7 June 1930, Colville, Washington) Second husband:? ? TOWN Children: Robert J. HANEY, Allen E. HANEY, and Donald H. HANEY
I checked the book published 1976, "Tombstone Inscriptions Stevens County, Washington," by the Eastern Washington Genealogical Society of Spokane. Mary's burial wasn't listed. Maybe her burial was after the reading of the cemetery and before the book was published, and would have missed publication. This book did have tombstone inscriptions for her father, one brother and some of her sisters. They were all buried in the Highland Cemetery in Colville. Although she died in Walla Walla, there was to have been a funeral service and burial in Colville. The name of the cemetery and funeral home would be helpful. If that funeral home is no longer in business, do you know who would have their records and the records of the cemetery? I would like to contact them for further information.
I don't know Mr. Town's given name or where or when he and Mary were married.
Thank you for your help. Jan Fenter Portland, Oregon
