HI Donald, I first found Russel Reid on the 1910 Bellingham Census with his family. Father Robert A. Reid was b. Canada English, 42, manufacturer boilers. Mother Alga E. b. England, 37 yrs old. Russel E., b. MT, 14 yrs old. Robert Debnam, father-in-law, widower, b. England, 67, gardener was living with them.
Russell Elwood Reid filled out his World War I Draft Reg. Card 5/19/1917. He was living at 809 - 11th, Bellingham. B. Missoula, MT, 27 Oct 1895. He was learning boiler making trade, Reid Brothers Boiler Works, Douglass Ave & Tenth St., Spokane. He was medium height but build wasn't filled in with dark blue eyes & light hair. His leg had been broken at the knee joint.
In 1920 he was living with his parents in Bellingham. His father Robert immigrated in 1888 & was naturalized in 1873. His mother Alga immigrated in 1885 & was naturalized in 189?. He was single, 24 & bookkeeper in boiler factory. Father-in-law Robert was still living with them.
In 1930 Russell was living in Bellingham with his wife, son & brother-in-law. He was 35, bookkeeper boiler works. His wife Ranghild C., b. NE, 34 yrs old. Son Robert E., b. WA, 2/12ths. John E. Newlean, b. NE, 33 yrs old, salesman oil business.
A John Newlean, 561-05-3921, whose last residence was Mt. Vernon, Skagit Co., WA (might have been where his last benefit check was mailed to) was b. 4 May 1897 & d. Oct 1973. His soc. sec. # was assigned in CA before 1951. Source: Social Security Death Index (which anyone can access).
A John E. Newlean d. 25 Oct 1973 in Mt. Vernon where he lived per death cert #024656. Source: WA Death Index 1940-1996.
That's all I found, however, the 1930 Census is the most recent one viewable to the public, therefore, information about a family after that is more difficult to find.
Since Robert was born in 1930 he certainly may still be alive.
Most Gen. Soc. will do research for a nominal fee. Whatcom Gen. Soc., PO Box 1493, Bellingham 98227-1493. Good Luck!
