I've been doing genealogy for quite some time and have built up a LONG list of "favorite" links that I use.I don't limit myself to Ancestry.com, otherwise I'd be giving bad advice for looking for anyone after the 1930 Census.
I've got one "favorites" directory called "genealogy."Within it, I have 20 sub-directories for various locations, countries, cemeteries, obituaries, war and military related, etc.Within these sub-directories, I futher break them down to different things. From my main favorites directory, I can go down to four, sometimes five sub-directories to find the link I want. Its a very quick slide with the cursor from main to bottom to link.
In my Obituaries sub-dirrectory, I have sub-directories for newspapers, which are broken down to Washington, Oregon, West, Minnesota/Wisconsin, Other.
For this search, I first went to my Main directory of Search Engines and looked up Forrest, as he was the last child. This gave me his obituary.I then tried my obits/newspapers/washington and went to the Yakima Herald newspaper obit search engine.
I also have a main directory called Newspapers to find general articles.I have a main directory called Local, which also has my link to accessing County Auditor/Recorder offices, and County Assessor offices, to locate recorded documents and land ownership.
---By the way, Margaret is still the owner of the land up in Seattle. So, it the phone number doesn't work, the address is still correct.
