Dania Hall was a Danish gathering place there was a Danish school 1876 to 1904 andwhere Danish in the new country got together. Later a large red brick building was built on State Street known as Dania Hall.Photos of old school and Hall are in " Grassroots of Racine County"
They had a Singing Society and a Dania Dramatic Club, and had recreation there also. They started a Sickness, Death Benefit Fund. There were celebrations,Danish food was served. In later years hall was rented for weddings and probaby other activities. State street was the fifth ward and there were quite a few Danish living there inearly history of Racine. Information summary is from an article in "Grassroots of Racine County"c 1978.Most of article was about Dania Hall 75th Anniversary in May of 1942. I attended a few wedding there late 1950s and 60s.I don't know if Dania Hall Building still stands and if it is active for Danish or not.
Hope this helps...Anna
