Hi Mary, I'm just curious. Using the information from the 1945 obit of Henrietta Wilke that Kathryn provided.
It said her maiden name was Simon and her only surviving sibling was a sister, Bertha Hernke. (Bertha d. 1963) So, looking up Bertha, found her on 1900 Milwaukee Co, town of Lake living with her brother and family and their mother. *indexed this time as Sangbusch Ernst Sangbusch, 34, b.Mar 1866 Ger> US 1881 Bertha (Taube), 32, b. Ger, mar 8yr 3/2 children Martha, 7 Edna, 3 mother- Fredrika Sangbusch, 64, b. Mar 1836, 9ch/5 liv sister- Bertha Hernke, 20, Aug 1879, mar 0yrs, 0ch
Checking on Ernst Sengbusch found the possible immigration Oct 1880 (first names abbreviated on pass list) Fdrk Sengbusch, 41 Frka , 45 Wihl (male) 18 Ernst, 14 Ludwig, 9 Elisa, 7 Berthe, 1 (no listing for Henrietta?)
Ernst died in IL, Lake Co, Waukegan 22 May 1930, the IL Death online listed his birthplace as St.Mein, Germany Father - Frederick Sengbusch Mother - Fredrica Hugh
The IL deaths also lists Louis (poss Ludwig?) Sengbusch b. 4 Aug 1870 - d. 22 Mar 1941 b. Demien, Germany Father - Frederick Sengbusch Mother - Fredrika Huth
These are too close to not be connected. But, still baffled about Henrietta. Unless she came over from Germany at a different time than the rest of the family.
If you unravel this, could you please post to take care of my curiosity?
