I need help locating the graves of my Geniesse ancestors. ggg grandfather Richard Geniesse (Giniese) died 13 June 1866. His burial record is in the archives of St. John the Evangelist church. His wife Marie lived past 1870, I believe. Son Alphonse died in 1917 in Escanaba, MI. His obituary said that his body was transported to Green Bay to be buried in the 'family plot'. Alphonse's wife Josephine had died in Escanaba in 1895. Her obituary said she was to be buried in Allouez cemetery. I have searched the Allouez cemetery and haven't found any of these family members, although there are many other Geniesse's in there. I have an old lithograph map of Green Bay that shows a 'Genesse St.', now named Congress St. near the intersection of Mason and Monroe Sts. and not far from the current St. John's church. Is it possible that the family lived on 'Genesee' St. and that the burial plot is/was there? I know there were Catholic cemeteries that were closed down, and the graves transfered to other cemeteries, including Allouez cemetery. I did not find my ancestors in the Allouez cemetery index at the Brown County library, nor could I find their graves in the Allouez cemetery. I would be very much appreciate any help that anyone can provide me!
