My great-great grandfather was Conrad Barthen, born about 1854 in Wisconsin. He married Elenora Zweifelhofer (born-1858, died-1931. (I know there are many variations of her last name).
They had eight children that I know of: Rose, William, Whilemenia, Joseph, Henry, Albert, Margaret, and Marie.
He was a cigar maker by trade. I have no birth record, or death record for him. (I know from family that he is buried in Calvary Cemetary in Chippewa, I don't know if his wife is buried with him). I only have census records placing them in Chippewa Falls between 1880-1920.
Anyway, according to my granmother, Conrad was possibly robbed and murdered, and his body was thown into a river. Some discrepancies about where it happened, Milwaukee, Chippewa, or Eau Claire. Some how his death is estimated to be in 1928.
Anyone know anything about Conrad Barthen and his demise? Or maybe who his parents might have been? I am also looking for info about his wife Eleanora. I believe she was born in Germany, and her parents names were Joseph (1816) and Barbara (1813). I was wondering if anyone could confirm that.
