Leon,
Here are a few additional clues:
Per “Memorable Happenings in the Grant Co. Herald [newspaper], 1870 – 1879,” compiled by Cheryl D. Lemanski:
Fred Lickel, son of George, died 21 Sep 1872, Ellenboro Twp., recorded in the 1 Oct 1872 issue of the Herald.
Frederick Lickel, son of George, died "22" Sep 1872, Ellenboro Twp., recorded in the 1 Oct 1872 issue of the Herald.(Not sure if 21 or 22 Sept. is correct.)
George Lickel Jr. died 14 Sep 1872, Ellenboro Twp., recorded in the 24 Sep 1872 issue of the Herald.(I'm not sure if George was an infant or possibly John/John George.)
Hannah Lickel married Daniel Aupperle, 26 Nov 1873, Lancaster Twp., recorded in the 15 Jan 1874 issue of the Herald.
Jacob T. Lickel married Emily Tyack, 2 Feb 1876, Boscobel Twp., recorded in the 10 Feb 1876 issue of the Herald.
Lewis (Louis) Lickel, born 1855 in Wisconsin, died 12 May 1879, Ellenboro Twp., recorded in the 15 May 1879 issue of the Herald.
Well, it seems that Frederick and Louis/Lewis died by 1880.I wonder if John in 1860 was recorded as Julia in 1870??Lots of errors in the census. It would certainly appear to be him based on the ages.
I believe that Jacob and John were living in Iowa in 1880.
1880 Census, Richland, Sac Co., IA, Pg. 235A:
J. T. Lickle, 30, Farmer, PA, GER, GER
Emily Lickle, 36, Housework, WI, ENG, ENG, Wife
John Lickle, 23, Farm Work, WI, GER, GER, Brother
Leonard is a mystery to me as he is listed as a son of Mary C. in 1880.
You may also want to check out the Lickle/Lickel cemetery records for Grant Co., WI.I would recommend requesting them from the Grant Co. Genealogical Society (GCGS).They will send you all cemetery listings for each requested Surname in the County for $3 per surname plus a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE).
Info. is available at:

Send a check (Payable to the GCGS) and Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) to Helen Jentz, 955 Williams St., Platteville, WI 53818.
