I'm a descendant of Pierre Carbonneau b. 1765.He was married to a Chippewa woman (Mary?) and had a child named Francis in 1785.When were they married, her name, her parents, etc.Their son Francis married an unknown Menominee woman and had a daughter, mary Carbonneau dit Provencal in 1812.She married Lewis Fizette in 1830 and had a son named John B. Fizette (sp.) who in turn married an unknow Chippewa woman (Josephine?) and had a child named Victor in 1866.I would love any additional information regarding wedding dates, tribes, women's names, etc.I know in fact they were American Indian. We have the mixed blood payment rosters as well as the land deeds given to the family by the government. It seems you need a tribe name and indian name to prove any type of heritage.By the way, they had one of the largest trading posts in the area of Marinette County, WI.Would love to hear from anyone...maybe you're related.
