I am searching for information about James Cook and Mary Stevens.
James is living with his parents in 1850 in Harrison, Winnebago, Illinois. In 1860 he is living with his married sister, Catherine (Cook) Welch in Mt. Pleasant, Racine, Wisconsin. (James b. 1840 Canada Mary b. 1845 NY)
Mary Stevens is living with Samuel Welch in the 1860 census (the next household down) Samuel is the father in law of Catherine (Cook) Welch.
I know that James and Mary were married about 1865. Their children were: Rosa b. 1866 WI, Dora b. 1868 WI, son Edward b. 1870 IA, Blanche b. 1873 IA, Syliva b. 1876 NE, son Walter b. 1879 NE, Charles b. 1881 NE, Albert b. 1884 NE.
I am trying to find their exact marriage date and place, I believe there were probably married in Racine county, since they were living next door to each other in 1860.
James Cook d.c 1884-1887. His widow Mary (Stevens) Cook was living in or came to Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie co, Iowa. In March 1887 she was married to Samuel Gray. They moved to Hickory Grove, Jasper, Iowa. Many of her children lived in Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa.
I think that Mary may have married again. I have familial references to Grandma Stone. A family bible has Mary Stone d. 1931, next to her name says mother (this bible belonged to her daughter, Sylvia)
I am trying to find out the parents of Mary Stevens.
