I believe there is a link between your EMRICHs and my GILCHERs. Here's what I know:
Louisa GILCHER (born 28 April 1827, daughter of Peter GILCHER and Louisa GRILL of Rathsweiler, Pfalz, married Karl/Charles EMRICH. They lived in Racine, Wisconsin in 1866 (according to documentation in Kusel, Pfalz, notarized following her father's death in Rathsweiler in 1865).
I am just beginning to research this lady and have found her and her husband (a tailor) and son Charles (age 24, a tin smith) still living in Racine according to the 1880 U.S. census (T9-1443, page 452A, Dist. 166).
Louisa GILCHER EMRICH was an aunt (a sister of the father) of my great-great-grandmother, Katharina Gilcher Kreischer, born 1856 in Rathsweiler, Pfalz and immigrated to Syracuse, NY, about whom I have much info. I have visited Rathsweiler and seen the Gilcher homestead.
Up until now we have had no information on Louisa Gilcher Emrich's emigration, marriage, or life at all beyond Germany. I am trying to discover more about her U.S. years and family (and those of her sister, Maria Elisabeth Gilcher born 1832 in Rathsweiler who married a John RENNER--they too lived in Racine in 1866). I am also trying to delineate the Wisconsin-New York connection.
Can't reach you via email, so I am hoping you will see this and we can exchange some info.
