Basically, I am looking to get into contact with living descendants of the Warrens of Marshall/Bloom Township.I found an index for obituaries in the Richland Observer.Therein, I found two BROWNs whose mother's maiden name was WARREN:
1.Theron O. Brown, b. Jan 4, 1923; d. Jun 24, 1996
2.Newell Brown, b. Dec 5, 1924; d. Jan 20, 1999
I then looked these individuals up on the 1930 census and found that they were brothers, living in Bloom Twp., in the household of "Joe O." and "Lula F." Brown. The members of this household were:
ALL Surnames = BROWN
1.Joe O., Head, b. ca. 1891, WI
2.Lula, F., Wife, b. ca. 1896, WI
3.Hellen R., Dau., b. ca. 1916, WI
4.Leo J., Son, b. ca. 1918, WI
5.Raymond R., Son, b. ca. 1920, WI
6.Loren G., Son, b. ca 1922, WI
7.Theron O., Son, b. ca. 1923, WI
8.Newell H., Son, b. ca. 1925, WI
9.Lois M., Dau., b. ca. 1926, WI
10. Glen W., Son, b. ca. 1929, WI
There may have been other children born later, but I will have to wait until the 1940 Census is publicized to find out.Hopefully, one or more of these, or their offspring, are still living in Richland County and would be willing to be in communication with me.
The 1930 Census stated that Lula was age 34, so I looked up Lula Warren on the 1900 Census.I found her living in Marshall Twp., in the household of George N. and Della M. Warren.
In my own records, I find George N. Warren married Ardella Mae Totten. My family also has a book where my gr-grandmother wrote down all dates of importance to her and she shows that Lula Warren and Joseph Brown married on Feb 16, 1915.George N. Warren's parents are Julius Warren and Amanda Maria Lamb. This is where I come in.
Julius was the brother of MY gr-gr-grandfather, Alvin/Alva Warren. My side of the family has absolutely NO IDEA who the parents of Julius and Alvin were.We have an oral history that the father was an immigrant from County Cork, Ireland, to NY sometime 1800-1820.
I have been looking for the connection for almost 9 years and am now beginning to seriously doubt the truth of this tradition. However, there is NO QUESTION that Julius and Alvin were BROTHERs.I have a photograph of Julius Warren in my gr-grandmother's photo album. He was her UNCLE.He died in the early 1860's, likely in the early part of the Civil War (Amanda collected a Pension in his name), so this photo was probably taken in the late 1850's.
Anyway, since I know my gr-grandmother (Alvin's daughter), Eva Elizabeth Warren, spent a great deal of time in her early adulthood with the Amanda Warren/Welles family in Marshall Twp. until she married in MT in 1882, I am hoping to find someone still living in Richland County who can help me with the Warrens of Marshall Twp. relations and possibly their ancestry.
These Warrens came to Bloom/Marshall Twp. ca. 1859-60 and were close friends with the Gillinghams.Quite a few of them are buried in the cemetery at Fancy Creek. In addition to the Browns, there is also a relationship to the Sprys, although I don't yet know how.
This is, in essence, my attempt to "come in through the back door" to find the ancestry for my gr-gr-grandfather, Alvin Warren.Any information or ideas are MOST WELCOME!You can answer here or email me direct. You can find my email address on the email contact page.
Many thanks in advance,
