Benjamin Y. White died 18 May 1918 at Stone Lake, Sawyer County, Wisconsin and is thought to be buried there. He had 8 plots at the Evergreen Cemetery but these were suposedly unused and reportedly resold in the 1970s! This was related by my cousin who traveled from Washington to Wisconsin to find his gravesite.
His wife, Effie Mae (Kohlbrot or Colbroth) White died in Carson, Washington and is buried in Lincoln Memorial Park (cemetery) at Portland, Oregon.
Is there a newspaper serving this area that could be researched for a death notice?
This same cousin says a request for a death certificate for Benjamin Y. (Yerksa or Yerkxa possibly) White was never fulfilled. Apparently the records were lost? Since most of the White family did not travel to Washington until about 1920 or so, it is hard to imagine that they would not have recorded the correct information. Perhaps the family memory lapsed to "protect" others from the actual events. Perhaps he - - -. Would anyone have encountered information that would be useful in completing my genealogical records? ---John
