Howdy Debbi! Thanks for posting your information. The death date I have for August Ring is 20 Dec 1930 and his burial date is 24 Dec 1930.His wife, Minnie, died 17 May 1950 in Riceville and she was buried on 20 May 1950.Both are buried at St. Peter's Lutheran church cemetery, south of Riceville. It appears that August Ring's father, Michael Ring was born 1830 in West Prussia (Germany). He was married to Anna Hintz who was born 1846 in West Prussia. She died 14 Dec 1889 near Elma, Howard county, Iowa and is buried at the Protestant Elma Cemetery. She was the sister of Andrew Hintz who farmed near Elma. The 1885 Iowa state census shows Michael Ring, 54; Anna Ring, 39; August Ring, 14; Lise Ring, 6; Anna Ring, 4; and Fred Ring, 2 - all living on a farm (SW SW section 30) in Howard Center township, near Lime Springs, Howard county, Iowa. The 1895 Iowa state census does not list Michael Ring but August Ring and his wife, Minnie, and sons - Fred and Emil - were living in Jamestown township, Howard county, Iowa east of Riceville. The 1900 census does show a Michael Ring, age 70, living in Vernon Springs township, Howard county, Iowa which is near Cresco. He is listed as a widower born in Germany (April 1830) and living with a Fesenden family. He is not listed in the 1910, 1920, or 1930 census. He is not buried at Elma.I did find a Carl Ring living in Sheboygan, WI in the 1895, 1905, 1910, 1920 and 1930 census and it appears he was born in 1860 in Germany and married to a lady named Amanda and they had three children - Ervin, Walter and Anna. He is listed as a cabinet maker.I am not sure if this is the half-brother of of August Ring or not, but it certainly appears to be him.
