On Monday, June 21, 2010, a tornado struck Eagle, luckily no one was killed. The Oak Ridge Cemetery, along highway 67 did not escape damage.
"Caretakers of the Oak Ridge Cemetery are struggling to cope with damage from last week's tornado. The cemetery, which dates to 1869, is strewn with uprooted trees and the cemetery lacks resources to clean the property."
"Of the estimated 50 trees, many 100 years old, that shades the 5-acre cemetery on the village outskirts, only four or five still stand...many headstones have been damaged...tilted, tipped or broken..." Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, June 26, 2010.
