Aged Resident Dies John Straszewski, 95 Years of Age, Passes Away at Home of Daugh- ter--Funeral Friday
John Straszewski, 95 years old and believed to be one of Oshkosh's oldest residents, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. C. Sayeska, 275 Congress Street.The nonagenarian reached the age of 95 years June 15.He was born in Germany on that date n 1833.The deceased spent the early part of his life n Europe.He came to America about sixty years ago and settled in Beaver Dam.He resided there for fifteen years and then came to Oshkosh.He had resided in this city since that time. Mr. Straszewski was said to have been in excellent health for a person of his advanced age.Although not actually ill, however, his health failed rapidly for the last six weeks. His death was attributed to old age. The survivors are two sons, W. L. Straszewski, and J. S. Straszewski, both of Waukegan, Ill; and five daughters, Mrs. Theodore Sachinski, Mrs. Edward Sachinski, Mrs. August Koplitz, and Mrs. J. C. Sayeska, all of Oshkosh, and Mrs. Joseph Sachinski of Columbus, Wis.He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Straszewski was a charter member of St. Josephat's Catholic church of this city.Funeral services will be held there Friday morning at 9 o'clock.Rev. J. F. Gabryanck will be the officiating clergyman.Internment will be at Riverside cemetery.Friends wishing to view the remains may do so at the home of Mrs. J. C. Sayeska this evening and until the time of the services.
