I'm looking for newspaper articles or other records such as listings and ads in city directories for ca. 1920, Huntington area, regarding a teenage inventor who built a car that ran on compressed air.
The inventor's name was Willard E "Bill" Truitt. His father, Horace Vitel Truitt, owned a service station in Huntington in 1920 (confirmed by census) and if nothing else there might be an ad or listing for them in the city directory.H V Truitt could be nicknamed Roy.
It would be really great if someone could help me locate some news clippings about the invention.Bill told me there was a lot of publicity at the time.I've been researching Bill Truitt's air car since 1986 when I interviewed him at some length by phone.I now live in the Philippines.I study the background of old-time inventors.
HV Truitt was helping set up a YMCA in Middleport, Ohio in 1912.Originally they were from Willard, Ohio.
What about high school yearbooks?Bill completed two years of high school which would put him in school up through about 1918 since he was born in 1903.
Bill had a child with Helen B Massey in Huntington in 1925.She later married A Marshall Spengler. It would be nice to find Bill & Helen's marriage record.
