I am researching my Syfrett line and I ran into a stone wall in 1850. In the 1850 census my GGrandfather William Syfrett, age 10 and his sister Ann Syfrett age 5, were living in the household of George Aaron age 62, Sarah Aaron age 40, Susan Aaron age 16, Hariet Aaron age 14, Eleanor Aaron age 9 as well as Pearce Grimes age 23, Elizabeth Grimes age 20, Lenora Grimes age 1 and John Grimes age 12. My primary interest is how William and Ann Syfrett came to be in the home of George Aaron. The 1840 census shows George living in the same area as some Syfretts but the 1840 census does not have names for anyone other than the head of the household. In 1840 George was in the group 40-50 and the oldest female was in the 30-40 group. The 1850 George was the approximate right age if he was near 50 in 1840 and his wife could have been 30 in 1840. But the question is, was Sarah Aaron George's wife in 1840 or was Sarah, William and Ann Syfrett's mother and married George around 1845 after Ann was born and her Syfrett husband deceased? I could not find George Aaron in the 1860 census but I suspect he had passed on and I have not found any mention of Sarah Aaron either. William Syfrett is married to Rachel Thompson and have one child in 1860. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
