Josephine Hartley Abbey 1842-1922 - CT
In a visit with my Aunt Mary this weekend we discovered a newspaper obituary that reads as follows:
Voluntown
Mrs. Josephine Abbey passed away July 20 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Phebe Moon after a short illness at the age of 80 years. Mrs. Abbey leaves two sons, Albert Abbey and William Hartley, one daughter, Mrs. Phebe Moon, and ten grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren in Voluntown. The funeral was held from the Baptist Church July 23, Rev. John Payne of Jewett City officiating. The bearers were Ernest Perkins, Charles Lachapelle, Lincoln Bitgood and Charles Miller. Interment was in North Stonington.

Voluntown and North Stonington are in Connecticut.
At http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctnewlon/cemeteries44_58.htm#plain57http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctnewlon/cemeteries44_58.htm#plain57 is a listing of headstone inscriptions of the town of North Stonington CT copied by Charles R. Hale, 1932; and transcribed by Nancyann Norman.
In that list you will find Josephine Hartley Abbey, wife of George Abbey. Her dates are 1842-1922.
My main interest in this lies with her son William Hartley who is my great-grandfather.William was born in 1868, so Josephine would have been approximately 25-26 at that time. Apparently she married George Abbey as a second husband and had two children with him.
I am interested in anything you can share about Josephine.
