David7 Abbey (William6, Gideon5, Ebenezer4 Abbe, Samuel3, John Abbe2 Jr., John1 Abbe) was born April 1, 1792 in Birdsall, New York, and died April 14, 1878 in Birdsall, New York. He married Phoebe Travis June 28, 1821 in Syracuse, New York.
David Abbey was born and died on an old farm 7 miles from Angelica, New York. He was 86 years, 0 months, 13 days old at the time of his death. He was a soldier in the war of 1812. His wife Phoebe Travis was born June 17, 1802. Her time of death is unknown.
David Abbey had thirteen children. One of his sons, Gehial Hall Abbey, served three years in the Civil War in Company G, 1st New York Dragoons. He was wounded at Cedar Creek, Virginia, and spent ten months in the hospital. Another son, William Henry Abbey, died in Andersonville Prison, Americus, Georgia, on June 18, 1864. He was a Private in E Company, 85th New York Regiment. If anyone should visit Andersonville Prison, his grave site number is #2141. Another son, Warren Abbey, died when he was 23 months old, the cause of death is unknown.
