John C. Abbott/Mary Ellen, St.Louis,MO

Amongst the family papers from my parents home,I have a lovely letter written to Mr John C. Abbott, care of Bingham & Taply, Boston, Mass. It is postmarked July 5th from St. Louis, Mo. The letter is dated July 4,1846 and is written by his wife, Mary Ellen. She apparently has lived in St Louis less than a year and is very homesick, also unbearably hot. She mentions two children Ellen and Lydia. Since I have no Abbott's in my family tree that I know of and no relatives in Missouri, I don't know how it came to be in our possession. Can any of you Abbott researchers identify this family?
