IN d.9/25/1898 Pike Co. IN *** I have Lucreatia's Line also The name was originally Leslie and there is a long story there. Children: William, Fredrick ( my great grandfather), Charles, Henry, Effie ( your grandmother )Milton 2nd Mattie Kilpatrick children: Nettie, Herschel
so you see your grandmother Effie Nixon was my great grandfather Fredrick's sister and we are 4th cousins.Your dad was my grandmother's 1st cousin.
Effie was born about 1887 and married Sam (Samuel) Abbott. Did you know that your dad had a brother Sylvestor? I believe he died in infancy. This info is from My great Uncle Malcolm Nixon, my grandmother's brother. He knew your dad. My mom thinks she knows why your dad didn't talk about his family. I do know that there was bad blood between Joe's 2nd wife Mattie and Joe's older children from Lucreatia, so that might also be what the problem was.Believe me, the way she treated them, any bad feelings towards her were justified.
Fredrick was born in 1882 here is my line: Fredrick Nixon married Ada Littell they are also buried at Williams Cemetary Children: Beatrice, Constant, Malcolm, Denver, Denzil, Juanita ( my grandma ),Harley
Juanita Nixon married Lowell Curtis children: Charles, Beverly ( my mom )
I have most of all the lines of all the brothers and sisters list through the generations above. Most all the descendants of these people still live around Pike Co. Indiana. Except for me, I am in California
Your Davis Line:
Henry Davis b.1760 PA d. ? married Mary Ann Gross b.1757 PA d. ? Child Jesse Gross Davis There are more children, but I don't have the names handy.
Jesse Gross Davis b.10/31/1792 Nelson Co. KY d.3/14/1860 Pike Co. IN buried in the Davis Cemetary in Pike Co. married Nancy Mason b.1798 Nelson Co. KY d.1/9/1895 Pike Co. IN Buried with Jesse in the Davis Cemetary *** I have Nancy's parents and line which I will put in another post child: David Jackson Davis there are many more children, I have to go through more papers and get the names for you.
David Jackson Davis b.1817 Nelson Co. KY d. ? we are unable to locate David's date of death or place of burial. He left Pike Co.with his 2nd wife and younger children and we aren't sure where he went. We believe he went to Illinios. married 1st Lydia Wells ( Our Line ) b.4/11/1816KY? d.6/12/1844Pike Co. Indiana Lydia is a mystery to me, none of us can find her parents, although I have of late come across a very promising lead. Lydia is buried in The Black Cemetary in Pike Co. which is on some of the original Nixon farm , property still owned by my family today. 2 of Hannah's infant children are buried there next to Lydia, their grandmother. I believe that James Nixon's wife Elizabeth may also be buried there. Child: Hannah ( 10 other children, oldest 4 belong to Lydia, the other 7 belong to David's 2nd wife Elinor. Again I must dig through paper work to find the names for you.
That brings us To Hannah Davis and William Nixon whose line is above with the Nixons.
I will post your Lasley / Leslie line and additional Lines including the Mason Line in another post. I have researched this line for 15 years and was lucky enough to have family documentation to help me. Let me know what you think. write me soon! I always dreamed of finding you, Janet, Larry or Robert. I knew you were out there somewhere.
