Per the Marriage Records of Scott Co., VA, on Oct. 15, 1830, William Abbott married Matilda Godsey.
The 1840 Census of Parke Co., IN, lists William Abbott.William's household includes 5 males (2 = 5-10yrs; 2 = 15-20yrs; and 1 = 40-50yrs) and 5 females (1 = 5yrs & under; 1 = 5-10yrs; 1 = 10-15yrs; 1 = 15-20yrs; and 1 = 30-40yrs).Based on this census record, William and Matilda had several children.I have not yet established their names.
I have found several land deed transactions of William Abbott in Parke Co. from 1836 and 1843.
Per the Death Records of Parke Co., IN, on July 8, 1894 (or 1904), Matilda Abbott died at the age of 73 in Florida Twp. of Parke Co.Based on the date and the listed age, this may be the same Matilda, wife of William Abbott.I have not yet had a look at the original death certificate.It could be that either the date or age (or both) are listed wrong in the WPA Index.
