Hi, Judy,I just read your message again.Where did you find Isaiah b 1821? Can you tell me anything about how these children were raised? They were so young when their parents died.I know Edward was "Bound out" to a family in KY.He was ll yrs. What happened to Mary, Samuel and the baby Isaiah? He gave this info to a reporter in 1901 at his 66 wedding anniversary celebration. "Mr. Edward Abbott was born in Erie county, N.Y.Nov.5,1811. He came to Indiana in 1819 with his parents.About 3 years later his parents died.He then went to KY as a bound boy and at the age of fourteen he began carrying the mail from Vevay, Ind., to Frankfort, KY He spent one year on this rouate, then carried mail from Vevay to Shelbyville, KY for one year and the two following years from Middletown to Cincinnati. After this four years experience as a mail carrier, he learned the tailor's trade at shelbyville,KY.He worked at this trade until Mar. 8,1835 when he married Miss Irena Schoonover, who was born in Genesee County, NY July 17, 1814, and came to Indiana with her family in 1816. He farmed in Switzerland County till March 1879 when they moved to Indianapolis tilOct.1894 tomove withtheir dau., Mrs. Fannie Adams. They were members of the Missionary Baptist church for sixty years. Interesting!
