Joe, My G.Grandfather was Willaim Abbott and his wife was Mary Lynn. I know William had sons, namely Thomas, Patrick and I think I remember my Dad saying there was a Pat and Mike. I was told my another decendent of Thomas's son ,John Joseph Abbott that Thomas came over in 1850 from County Cork Thomas settled in Trenton and his mother, Mary is listed as a widow in the Trenton Directory in 1873 through1875 and then I lose her. She apparently lived with her son Thomasor he with her. Also a Widow Mary, wife of Patrick lived with them. Thomas served in the Civil War, where he lost a leg, so I'm wondering if William and his sons might have all served in the war. I can'y find any record of William living in N.J.,so thought maybe they lived elsewhere when they first came over. I have found a William Abbott in Patterson but no proof it might be my G.Grandfather. If you can help me in any way I sure would appreciate it. Thomas was born in 1843 or 1845, so again I'm assuming William was born about the turn of the century, ca.1800. Dorothy Abbott Mackey P.S. My Aunt always told me we were related to the Nottingham Abbotts of Trenton. She refered to a grandfather who hide the city money out at the farm and an Uncle Timothy who was the president of the bank. Thomas had a son who became a priest in Philadelphia. Other than this I know nothing about my G. grandfather.
