I also apologize for being so tardy. The holidays hit with a vengeance and then we were gone for almost a month.
I have a photostated copy of a "bond" , dated 24 Jan 1807.It states that John Abbott and Sarah Rolph may be married in the State of Delaware. The bond is for 500 pounds.John signed the document as John Abbitt and a William Rolph made his mark.My Abbotts more than likely were from the Cedar Creek area of Sussex Co. Dela., which is near or in an area that was once considered Maryland.Information on the name Rolph is very limited. The Dela. Public Archives has a database for their probates and you can check them yourselves. There is a Sarah Rolph probated on 1769-1770, Kent Co., Susannah Rolph, 1837, and William Rolph 1777-1782.The names then seem to metamorphasize into "Ralph".Sarah Rolph was born cir. 1798 and John Abbott's dates were cir. 1796 to 1854.I have done little to no research on either of these lines, but hope to in the future.
If you happen by chance to run across anything that sounds familiar, I would love to have the info.
