Hi Phyllis: It's been a long time but I have found several new items on Josiah & Mary Josephine (Abbott) HOOD. #1: I have found them in the Texas 1900 & 1910 Runnels County census. #2.I located their graves in Hillcrest cemetery. They are buried with the Preslars, their daughter & son-in-law. #3: The youngest Abbott, Elizabeth "Lizzie", is also buried in Hillcrest Cemetery with her husband, Barney Lane Hall. They died September 9th, 1944 and August 22nd,1947, respectfully. I obtained their death records from the Bell County clerk.Elizabeth committed suicide due to illness in the early morning hours of Saturday, the 9th of September. #4: Josephine's family, with "M. K. Abbett" as the head of the family,is listed in the 1880 Arkansas, Franklin County, Mulberry Springs area, census. They must have left Floyd County Georgia after the 1870 August census in time for Josephine to meet & marry Josiah in December of 1872. #5: I have copies of the obituaries for Josiah & Josephine that were printed in the "TEMPLE DAILY TELEGRAM".
I would like a copy of the article you mention on the Hood's wagon trip to Texas. Please email the date that it printed so that I can add that to my family history. Also, if you found anything else please let me know.
