I am putting this on all possible web sites to try and take my family back. It involves several family names that may have more info. I am looking for origins for one set of great-great grandparents. The 1880 US Census tells me they were born in England but I would like to know where they are from in England. I would also like to know where other of their descendants have dispersed to. Here is the info I have and some of this is suspect. Mary Elizabeth Abbott born in England November 1844 married William Atkinson about 1860 they had at least one child Thomas Atkinson that was born in England about 1863, then they moved to the USA in1866. They settled in the Wilkes-Barre/Luzerne County area and had several more children there including William Atkinson about 1866, Charlotte Atkinson about 1868, and John Atkinson about 1870. William was killed in a mine accident in 1870 in Pittston, Luzerne Co. PA, USA leaving Mary a widow with four small children. Mary met and married George Fenton my great-great grandfather in 1871. George born August 1843 had also emigrated from England about 1869/1870. Together they had at least two children, Elizabeth Fenton about 1874 and Louisa Fletcher Fenton 1879. I know these children were in the 1880 US Census all listed as Fentons but in the 1900 census Mary said she had had 11 children, 6 of which were living. I know there are no descendants out there named Fenton as George had only daughters. There may be descendants of Mary named Atkinson, in 1913 Thomas was still living in Plains and William was in Pontiac, MI, USA and the three daughters were all married. Charlotte Atkinson married Philip Hein (also spelled as Herr & Hinn (somewhat illegible) in other sources) and lived in Wilkes-Barre in 1913. Elizabeth Fenton married Edward F. Reese and lived in Dorranceton (which I am told is now Kingston), Luzerne Co., PA, USA in 1913. Louisa Fletcher Fenton married Andrew Geary and lived in Plains, Luzerne Co., PA, USA in 1913 and died there in 1918 in the same house that had belonged to her parents.
That’s the outline I have. I am looking for family that can take George and Mary back further in England. That could be descendants of the Atkinsons, Heins, Reeses, or Gearys or it may be descendants of siblings or other family in England or other parts of the world that have these people listed in their Atkinson, Abbott, Fenton family tree. If anyone has any word on where these people hail from in England I would like to know. I have tried searching some immigration records and ship passenger lists but so far have not turned up anything. Thanks in advance for any help I may receive.
