I saw that article too. There is much confusion about the many George Abbott's appearing in Andover.(Some years ago there was a discussion in this forum on that topic.)The best documented source I have found on the web, which sorts them out, is from the "Rumford, Oxford County, Maine Genealogy Project" http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rum1800/http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rum1800/
I also found a database by "Jo Ann Cornelius" which is very good and in 90% agreement.
There are two lines (3 generations) of Georges all marrying and having children in Andover at the same time. Many references have the wifes and children assigned to the wrong George.
The George from Bishop's Stortford, who married Hannah Chandler (also from Bishop's Stortford) is frequently called "George Abbott of Andover. It is believed he is the one on the Hopewell in 1840, and mentioned as one of the first settlers of Andover. They had 13 children born in Andover form 1647/48 to 1672/73.
The "George Abbott of Roxbury" is first recorded in Roxbury where his father died.He must have come over with his father and was about 17 at the time. He married Sarah Farnum (born in SouthHampton, Eng) 26 Apr 1658 either in Ipswich or Andover.(I beleive she was living in Ipswich and he was in Andover)They had 10 children born in Andover from 1658/59 to 1680.
The older George died in 1681 and the younger in 1687/88.
I am descended from three of George and Hannah's children as well as two of George and Sarah's children.(Also two of Hannah's Chandler brothers).
